Congratulations to Castlehill who convincingly won the season’s opening match by 14.5 – 5.5. Forty players turned out for this chess match, the largest number on record. At the end the strength in depth of the Castlehill chess team proved to be the decisive factor. The winning team was spearheaded on Board 1 by Declan Shafi who maintained his impressive form by scoring a very convincing win over David Findlay. The winner on the evening was chess itself. It would seem that the game of chess is making a big revival across Tayside and Fife and it was great to see so many junior players taking part. Until next year….!!
