Congratulations to Castlehill A on a resounding victory in the TAFCA Team Battle 22. The team of IM Richard Polaczek, Andre Babin, Declan Shafi, Richard Kynoch and Graham Mooney won by a highly convincing 15 point margin from St Andrews A and our own Dundee A. Richard Polaczek also took the individual honors as the top scorer with an unbeaten 18 points. Very well played by them all.Our A Team comprised David Findlay, Ross Bremner, Ashley Clayton (all 10 points) and Ed Spencer (9). Our B Team in 7th place was Jim Anderson (7), Ray Flood (6), Max Wang, and specially well done to Max Whisson who finished as the top Dundee points scorer with 12 points. Very impressive indeed Max 👍 The full tournament results and all games are here lichess.org/tournament/sz6fWEsBThat concludes the TAFCA season, the second online version. Many thanks to all participants, and to the organisers, particularly Ray Noble who oversaw it all, despite his own situations. tc Ray Noble. It was all very enjoyable, and we're very grateful that we chessplayers were at least able to indulge in our sport when many were denied in the last couple of turbulent years. But hopefully next season will see a return to the OTB competition that I'm sure everyone wants. Look after yourselves till then folks 🤗 ... See MoreSee Less

Many congratulations to our own Ed Spencer. Ed picked up his second TAFCA Allegro title by winning the St Andrews leg with a remarkable 5/5 performance. To put it in perspective, a 2692 rating would put you 43rd in the world! Ed's five victories included beating the 2nd and 3rd finishers, Castlehill's IM Richard Polaczek and Andre Babin. And it doesn't end there. His 5 points, plus the bonus 1 were enough for an unlikely looking catch-up of long term leader Castlehill's Richard Kynoch to win the overall series title by 2 points. Well done to Ed, the TAFCA Allegro Champion 2021/22. Another three match week for our TAFCA teams, two chasing titles and one chasing tails. The results and reports are here www.dundeechessclub.co.uk/tafca-week-ending-4-2/Another good club night on Monday too, with another friendly allegro tournament. Unfortunately we were lacking Jim's technology, so I ran it the old fashioned paper way. The chance to fix the draw didn't help me, and Ross again ran out a 4/4 winner. I'm afraid the record is a bit of a dog's dinner, and I didn't even get the full names of the new members, so with apologies to them, what there is of a report is here www.dundeechessclub.co.uk/friendly-allegro-31-1/ ... Congratulations to our own Ed Spencer on becoming the new Kirkcaldy TAFCA Allegro champion 🤗Ed finished on 4½/5, his sole dropped half coming in the second round against Castlehill's rapidly rising young star Rishi Vijayakumar. Castlehill's Richard Kynoch was 2nd on 4/5, with Perth's Martin Gourlay 3rd on tiebreak, also on 4/5. Well played all. I couldn't make it last night, so our other representatives were Jim Anderson who finished 14th out of the 24 contenders on 2/5, And Nathan Larg who finished 23rd, gaining his single point with a last round bye. But as Nathan himself said in the comments, "I had a blast though, thank you all!"
