Start of new chess season: 2019-20

The new season starts on Tuesday 3rd September and we are hoping for a good turnout. On the 10th September there is a start of season meeting the purpose of which is to decide teams for the TAFCA (Tayside and Fife Chess Association) chess league for the new season. The meeting will also be used to make plans for other chess events scheduled for the new season. The opening match of the chess year is the Bobby Gow Memorial Tournament which is set to take place on Thursday 19th of September at Castlehill Chess Club, Dundee. This is the annual match between Castlehill and Dundee Chess Clubs.  All members are welcome and encouraged to play. We are looking for as many people as possible to represent our club. This is the 15th year of the tournament, we have not won the match for several years now. As in previous years the Bobby Gow evening promises to be a great night of chess.

We are also now taking entries for this year’s club championship. The closing date is 22nd September with the first round starting on the 1st October. Round 2 is scheduled for 5th November, Round 3 3rd December, Round 4 on 4th February and Round 5 on 3rd March 2020.
